Our school holiday programme is open to riders aged 6 – 12 years (if your child is older or younger, but you think the holiday programme may be suitable for them, please speak to us as exceptions may be made where appropriate). These are generally run over 3 days, Tuesday – Thursday between 9.00am and 4.30pm.
The programme is best suited to beginner riders (more advanced riders are most welcome to attend – they may find the activities a little less challenging, but will still have tonnes of fun!). Riders must be able to follow instructions and participate in group activities, and be able to ride independently (or work towards this at the holiday programme).
The holiday programme is not suitable for riders who will need a leader and/or sidewalkers for the duration of the programme.
You are also very welcome to bring your own pony, if your pony is suitable. If you have a pony you would like to bring, please discuss this with us – the programme fees remain the same, and Napier RDA will provide grazing, hard feed and care for your pony.
Activities will include riding, grooming, horse trekking, ridden games, treasure hunts, pony and rider photo-shoot, mini shows and more!
Activities are designed by our RDA coaches to accommodate beginner riders. Support will be available for riders if and when they need it, so that all riders will be able to participate fully and safely in all activities.
Throughout the programme, riders will learn horsemanship and riding skills, with an emphasis on building confidence and having fun, in a safe and supportive environment!
